Summer is just around the corner, and that means two things. One, it’s time to turn the air conditioning on, grab a cold one, and retreat on your veranda to escape the heat. And two, it’s the best time of the year to change something in your house – be it something major as changing the wallpapers or getting new furniture, or just changing the decor to something a bit fresher and more appropriate for the hot season. However, the bathroom is usually the last space in our house we think about when it comes to redegining and decoration – which is a pity, since we tend to spend at least an hour in there every single day. Here are some simple ways you can revamp your bathroom for the upcoming summer without breaking the bank.
1. Get rid of your curtains
If you have windows in your bathroom, summer is the time to get rid of those curtains, or, worse, heavy drapes you use to cover them during the cold season. Sure, heavy curtains do make the bathroom feel cozier and more intimate during the fall and winter, but they are in the way of pretty much everything during the summer. Curtains will keep the light and fresh air from entering the bathroom, and will also keep the moisture inside, leading to unpleasant smells. If you’re concerned about privacy, get some venetian blinds instead – they’re much more appropriate for a bathroom suring the summertime.
2. Plants and natural materials
Again, you’ve probably never thought of bringing plants into your bathroom, but they do create a cozy and rustic atmosphere that is very appropriate for summer. Just make sure that whatever plants you’re bringing are ok with constant humidity, and don’t forget to water/trim them as you usually would. Another decor trick you can use is natural materials – wood, woven straw, cork, or even stone work excellent for creating a fresh and summery feel in your bathroom.
3. Declutter and keep clean
Hot weather is high time for bacteria to grow and thrive – especially in constantly humid environments. That’s why you might want to pay extra attention to keeping your bathroom clean during the summer. Not only that, but you should also consider decluttering it as much as possible to make cleaning easier for yourself. It’s finally time to get rid of all of those half-used lotion bottles you’ve been hoarding over the years.
If you’re not planning any major changes in your house this summer, there isn’t much you can do to your bathroom except changing the decor, decluttering, and keeping it extra clean. However, these three tips will ensure that your bathroom becomes a truly enjoyable space for you during the hot season.
